Central Coast Celebrant
How old do you have to be to get married?

If either party is under 18 years of age at the time of the marriage, then consent and a Court order must be obtained. (Only one of the party can be under 18, and this party cannot be under 16 years of age)

How much do you charge for ceremonies?

My standard all inclusive fee for a wedding starts at $500. Additional costs may be incurred depending in location or additional requirements. Please contact me to discuss rates for other types of ceremonies.

What locations do you work in?

I live on the Central Coast of NSW, and I am happy to perform the majority of my ceremonies in this area.  I am also happy to travel north to Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Port Stephens, and south to Sydney city and suburbs.

If you would like me to perform your wedding in an area outside of the areas already mentioned, please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements.

Can we write our own ceremony?

I encourage all my couples to have input into their own ceremony. However, there are legal requirements, and compulsory words that must be used in accordance with the Marriage Act.  For this reason, if a couple wishes to write their own ceremony, I must see this ceremony prior to the wedding to ensure that these legal requirements are met.

Can a friend or relative perform all of our ceremony?

You can have a friend or relative perform most of your ceremony.  However, unless that person is a registered Civil Marriage Celebrant, than you will need to have a registered Civil Marriage Celebrant attend your wedding and oversee the procedures on the wedding day closely.  There are legal requirement that only the celebrant can perform.  For more details, please contact me.

Can a friend or relative perform a reading in our ceremony?

Yes.  Just let me know who it is, and I will meet with them before the ceremony, to talk them through their role.

How many witnesses do we need, and who can be a witness?

Two witnesses are required at your wedding.  Witnesses can be anyone you like, as long as they are over the age of 18.

Can I get married on a beach or in a public place?

Civil marriages can take place anywhere, on any day and at anytime. If you are getting married in a public place such as a beach or a park, you will need to contact the local council where your chosen location is, and arrange a permit.  Some councils will apply a small fee to permits.

Civil marriages can take place anywhere, on any day and at anytime.

We are a same sex couple – can we get married?

No. Currently in Australia, the law states that only a man and a woman can be legally married.  Same sex couples can however have a Commitment Ceremony, which  can be just as beautiful and as meaningful as a Wedding Ceremony.

We have already been married . Can we get married again?

No. If you have previously married in another country or in Australia, the second  ceremony can only take the form of a Renewal of Vows, or Recommitment Ceremony
